SPECIALTIES

Sidemount Diver

There are many good reasons to dive sidemount. For me the most important is that you have unrestricted access to the essential components of your air supply. It is definitely more convenient, even if it feels unfamiliar at first, to carry the scuba tanks on the side. Sidemount diving offers you more flexible possibilities and options to improve your streamlining. Plus, you don't have to walk around with heavy scuba tanks on your back - just step in the water, attach the tank(s) and off you go. But as a cave diver, Sidemount also gives me access to areas that would not be accessible with scuba tanks on my back.

Does that sound interesting to you? Then sign up for a 'Sidemount' diving specialty course.

Enriched Air Diver

Enriched Air, also known as Nitrox or EANx, contains less nitrogen than regular air. Breathing less nitrogen means you can dive with longer no decompression times OR surface intervals can be shorter OR the dive can be conducted even more safely. Therefore, the Enriched Air Diver is one of the most popular specialties.

Deep Diver

In the OWD you learned to dive at a depth of down to 18 meter. During the Deep Diver course you will learn how to plan deep dives down to 40 meter, manage your gas supply and how to recognize and deal with a deep rapture or your personal limits. You will learn how to keep in touch with your buddy and what you need to do in terms of safety and buoyancy control at depth.

Self Reliant Diver

Contrary to what is perhaps advertised elsewhere, I do not see this course as a starting point to dive without a buddy. 'Self-Reliant' primarily means not being dependent on your buddy. If you are already ready for this course, you will learn the necessary techniques and skills to dive "alone". You gain self-confidence by learning to solve problems underwater on your own. Redundant gear is important here, but without sacrificing streamlining or trim. We will show you how to do this in the Self-Reliant Diver specialty course.

To participate you must have an 'Advanced' certification card and be at least 18 years old.

Search & Recovery Diver

Not everything that is lost can be found again, but you increase your chances considerably if you proceed in a systematic and structured way when searching.

  • Searching and recovering lost objects underwater using underwater search patterns
  • Using a lift bag
  • Planning and conducting such a dive

These are just a few examples of the skills and knowledge we teach in the Search & Recovery Diver course.

Dry Suit Diver

Unlike wet suits, dry suits insulate by being filled with air. During your dry suit course we will show you how to control the air in your dry suit and thus your buoyancy control.

You will also learn about different types of drysuits and how to do basic repairs and maintenance.

Underwater Navigator

You don't just want to dive after, find your way to the exit or boat yourself? In the Underwater Navigator course you will learn to navigate like the pros. You improve your observational skills and learn to orientate yourself using the natural environment. We show you how to use a compass and how to use it more effectively in combination with natural navigation.

Digital Underwater Photography

Do you want to capture your memories in pictures? The Digital Underwater Photographer course will teach you how to take underwater photos that you'll be proud to share.

You'll learn how to use underwater lights (and flashes) skillfully, avoid flare effects, and enhance colors. We'll give you tips on which equipment has proven itself for us, for example.

Boat Diver

Sure, you will rarely dive from a boat in your local lake, but what about on vacation? The type of boat - but also the equipment used - require different entry and exit methods. How do you behave on a Zodiac, how do I secure the gear? If you have never dived from a boat or want to learn more about how to dive from different types of boats, enroll in a Boat Diver course.

In theory and practice you will learn nautical terms, etiquette on a boat and how to lay lines and/or set a signal buoy

Night Diver

Diving at night is a little scary for some and tempting for others. No matter how many times you've dived at a dive site, at night, only in the beam of your dive light you discover a whole new world. Whether fresh or salt water, when the diurnal creatures retreat, the nocturnal creatures come out. If you've ever wondered what happens underwater after sunset, you want to learn what precautions you need to take to dive safely and relaxed, then the Night Diver course is perfect for you.

and much, much more
